Tech Support – In Praise of Knitting and Spinning YouTube Videos

I’m largely a self-taught fiber artist. Back when I first learned to knit, I had a teacher. These days, there are more options, and one of the most useful is YouTube.

This is not a sponsored post. I’m not being paid to write about cool stuff that makes my life easier.

I’ve mentioned the Knitting Help website before, and I still think it’s one of the most useful resources out there for the knitting basics. But there’s more to knitting and spinning than the basics.

There are two YouTube videos I go back to on a semi-regular basis. One is an instructional video for Jeny’s surprisingly stretchy bind-off, because I don’t use it enough to remember how to get started (or how to continue, if it’s been a while). The other is a demonstration of navajo plying, which I will master one of these days. Right now I’ve only been able to ply one skein with that technique, and I’ve never been all that happy with the result. Someday….
